Protest song research assignment

1. This song talks about the vietnam war, saying give peace a chance. It became the war- peace anthem or whatever. It was popular in the 70's.

2. No I don't think this song is effective because all he says is give peace a chance then he does some cheezy rhyme then says give peace a chance again. It is boring and repetitive. I don't know why this song is popular maybe because John Lennon is popular THAT IS WHY. I bet no one likes this song the only people who liked it are hippie Lennon fans or people who wants peace. It is not even effective because, again all he says is "give peace a chance", okay we get it but give us a legit reason don't put in nursery rhymes.

3.This was a serious issue in the past because of nam. It's not around today it ended like 30-40 years ago. It's not getting better its getting worse because of the iraq war.

4. I picked this song because i couldnt find any. I had to go to wikipedia and had to put int he search engine "protest song" and it showed John Lennon so I was like why not. I honestly don't like it, it's too short and simple.

5. I think it would be a good thing if an artist uses his power to shine light on an issue it depends on how he does it. A bad example would be John Lennon because the lyrics are terrible. A good example would be WAR by Edwin Starr "WAR WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING" nowwwww that's a good catchy song and a good exmaple of a good protest song. I was about to choose this song over "give peace a chance" but I forgot about it until now as im typing this paragraph.

Is there any artsitic merit admidst the popcorn?

I think movies are just slick eye candys because in the summer some people dont got !@#$ to do and some people just wanna hang out with there friends and decides to go watch a movie. The new fast and furious, x-men: wolverine origins and night at the musem 2 were summer flicks of 2009. Now I seen these films and believe me when I say, they suck the original films of those movies are better and i'll tell you why.

The news fast and furious it looks like they barely even tried on that movie every care scene is CGI the originals was much better they used real cars and real stunts. x-men well those movies are really bad enough said, they just made it worse when they released wolverine origins. Now night of the museum I think the first movie was fantastic! but I dont feel the same way with sequel they shoudnt have made it because the story in the second one is..... dumb the only reason I can think of why they did this is because they are just SLICK EYE CANDY MOVIES they just want to make fast cash. Same thing goes with fast and furious and wolverine origins SLICK EYE CANDY. I had high expectations for these movies. I left the theatre disapointed and lost hope for summer films. It seems nowadays people rush movies. I hope to see a legit film in the future.

Teenagers in the media

My thoughts on how teenagers are represented in the media. I think they make alot of stereotype jokes about us for example the nerds in the media are represented by wearing big glasses and wearing an ugly sweater vest thing and the cool people have wacky hairs ( I don't know what it's called) and wear these jackets. I think this is an inaccurate portrayal beacause these days you don't see nerds with big glasses or wearing ugly sweater vests or cool people with wacky hairs. These days the cool people wear expensive brand clothing like Nike. I think this is a negative portrayal beacause there are people out there that loves to wear sweater vests (I don't, not a chance) but they won't because people would laugh at them and it's beacuse of how nerds are portrayed in the media.

Jamies Assignment 1

1.I believe that media is really important in my life without it I probably won't know what to do with myself. I like to keep myself updated on movies, music and video games. Speaking of video games I like how Xbox allows me to communicate with people from around the world it makes it a fun experience everytime I play it.

2. Music is the most important to me because I just like music it's always there for me I can bring it everywhere I go with my iPod Touch. I think it is an important part of my life because it made me who I am.

3. I think modern popular culture is great I like the new technologys such as video games I can communicate with my friends or other people. You can either talk about stuff or trash talk its a never ending fun and I am grateful for modern technology. I mostly use technology for entertainment like when im listening to music on my iPod Touch, sometimes I use it for information like the news or reading stuff on video games.

4. I think the internet is my favourite form of media because theres unlimited things to do on there like play games, look up stuff, watch videos. Without internet I think I would die and I also think you guys would die too. That's all I can think of about the internet so I'll talk about music. The type of music I listen too is hip hop, I got alot of favourite artists and it's hard to pick one. I guess my favourite artist is Young Jeezy because most of his songs have nice beats and lyrics. Music and Internet hasnt changed my life but I chose these because I grew up with them.
